The Purist -   A simple, timeless titanium pure road bike

우리의 목표는 UCI 무게 규정인 6.8KG을 넘지않는 레이스용 티타늄 자전거를 만드는 것이였다. 적절한 부품을 사용하면서도 7KG 미만을 실현할 수 있도록 무게를 줄이기 위해서 케이블의 일부는 외부로 노출했고 튜빙의 규격을 최적화하였다. 우리의 A30 Captain 지오메트리와 같이 재빠른 레이스 바이크의 감각을 제공하면서 굽이진 산악도로를 도전할만큼 안정적인 자전거를 실현하고자 하여 A10을 개발하였다. 

DESIGN DETAILS

Fast and stable road bike 

A10은 안정성과 스피드를 염두해두고 디자인되었다. 사무실의 뒤뜰과 테스팅 장소들은 베이징을 둘어싸고 있는 산악지역이다. 그러한 지역에서 매주 우리는 개발하는 자전거들을 한계까지 밀어부치며 테스트를 하였다. A10의 지오메트리는 이러한 산악지형에서 최대한 적합한 라이딩 유형을 얻기 위해서 빠르고 안정적으로 디자인되었다. A10 프레임의 스택 (stack) 수치는 그다지 길지 않게 하여 당신의 무게 중심을 낮추고 고속에서의 안정성을 증가시켰으며 몇 개의 스페이서를 추가하여 보다 상체를 세워 보다 편안한 자세를 가지도록 하였다.

2022년형 A10은 실제 측정기준으로 30mm 타이어까지 장착가능하도록 클리어러스를 확대하였다.

T47 Bottom Bracket

모든 Serk Titanium Line에 T47 BB를 채용하였다. 이 표준은 거의 모든 표준 사이즈의 크랭크를 잡음발생없이 장착할 수 있게 해준다. T47는 나사선 방식으로 사실상 bottom bracket 잡음을 제거하며 설치와 유지보수도 보다 편리하다. 

Semi Integrated Cabling

우리는 깔끔한 인터널 케이블링을 좋아하지만 또한 자전거의 경량화도 선호한다. 이에 더 무거운 BB를 사용하는 100% 인터널 케이블링 대신 semi-integrated 케이블링 방식을 선택하였다. 헤드튜브 근처 포트에서 케이블은 사라지고 BB 하단에서 다시 나오는 방식인데 라이더에게는 보이지않게 된다. 이러한 설정은 깔끔하면서도 가장 경량화를 가능하게하는 선택으로 완벽한 성능과 미학의 균형을 이룰 수 있다. 케이블 포트는 시마노의 전자식 그룹세트를 사용할 경우 Di2용으로 전환될 수 있다. 스램의 무선 방식을 위해 포트가 없는 것을 선호한다면 커스텀 프레임을 별도로 주문할 수 있다.

우리 자신의 자전거 브랜드를 시작하기 전 약 10년 동안 자전거 가게를 우리는 운영하였다. 이런 경험을 통해 많은 브랜드의 서비스와 수리에 대해 많은 것을 배울 수 있었는데 몇몇 브랜드에서 특정 사이즈나 눈속임을 가진  특허 부품을 개발하려는 경량만큼 짜증나는 것은 없었다. 이러한 브랜드의 자전거는 몇 년이 지나면 부품을 구매하기 어려워지고 때로는 이상한 사이즈의 헤드셋 베어링 사이즈나 이상한 형태의 에어로 시트포스트로 인하여 오래된 자전거가 무용지물로 변하게 된다. SERK bikes는 이러한 문제에서 자유로운 평생 사용이 가능하도록 디자인되었다. 긴 수명을 위해서 티타튬 소재를 선택하였고 동일한 철학으로 매우 조심스럽게 표준 사이즈를 가지고 쉽게 구매할 수 있는 부품들로 선별하였다. 10년 후 당신의 SERK Bike를 위해 새로운 헤드셋, 시트포스트, BB 등이 필요하게 되면 매우 쉽게 구매할 수 있을 것이다. 심지어 포크의 경우에도 동일한 규격을 가진 수많은 애프터마켓 옵션들이 존재하여 새로운 지형을 도전하기 위해서 쉽게 교체할 수 있게 된다. 이러한 디자인 접근법은 똑똑하면서도 책임감있는 것이라고 생각한다. 몇 십년동안 지속될 수 있는 타임리스 바이크를 디자인하였고 그것이 마땅하다고 생각한다.

아래 4가지 템플렛중에서 당신의 프레임에 적용할 것을 아무 것이나 선택하세요. 각 모델별도 기본 템플렛이 있으며 A10의 경우 pura가 기본 템플렛이며 다른 템플렛을 선택하는 경우 추가 비용이 다소 발생합니다. 프레임은 한번에 하나씩 페인팅되며 선금을 낸 후 4주 정도 소요됩니다.

3. MOFO - 20개 이상의 ceramic Cerakote paints중에서 하나 또는 두개의 색상을 선택하세요. Cerakote paint는 가볍고 내구성이 좋으며 보다 복잡한 패턴들을 만들기 위해서 단기 한번의 코팅만을 요구합니다. 

4. MULTI-CAM - 20개 이상의 ceramic Cerakote paints중에서 highlight colour를 선택하세요. 두번째와 세번째 베이스 칼라들을 위한 3가지 표준 옵션이 제공됩니다.

The Purist -   A simple, timeless titanium pure road bike

Our aim was to build a titanium bike that was race ready and close to the UCI weight limit of 6.8kg without using an abundance of weight weenie components. To save weight we left some cables exposed and we optimized tubing dimensions to bring the weight down far enough that a sub-seven kilogram bike is achievable with the right component choice.

Just like our A30 Captain the geometry is nimble enough to give you that race bike feeling and stable enough to encourage you to seek out switchback after switchback.

DESIGN DETAILS

Fast and stable road bike 

Our A10 was designed with stability and speed in mind. Our backyard and testing grounds are the mountains which surround Beijing. Every week we are are out pushing our bikes to the limit on the smooth descents in the area. The geometry of the bike was designed to be fast and stable to really take advantage of the type of riding in the region. The stack values on our frames are modest allowing you to get nice and low (reducing your centre of gravity and increasing the stability of the bike at speed) or add in some spacers to achieve a more upright position with extra comfort.

Our 2022 A10 now has clearance for larger tyres - 30mm measured.

T47 Bottom Bracket

We’ve adopted T47 across the Serk Titanium line. The standard is here to stay and allows you to fit almost all the standard sized cranks on the market creak free. T47 is threaded which virtually eliminates bottom bracket creaking. It also allows for much easier service and installation.

Semi Integrated Cabling

We love the clean aesthetic of internal cabling. However we also like lightweight bikes. Instead of using a fully internal cable routing system with a heavier cast bottom bracket we opted for semi-integrated. Cables are hidden from the inlet ports near the head tube before exiting under the bottom bracket where they are exposed but hidden under the bike. This configuration is the lightest design option while still retaining a clean aesthetic - the perfect balance between performance and beauty. The included cable ports can be swapped out for Di2 versions if you prefer an electronic groupset from Shimano. Prefer no ports for an wireless SRAM build? Message us and we can produce a customised version of the frame.

Bike for life

Before we started our own bike brand we ran a bike shop for almost a decade. You learn a lot on the shop floor servicing and repairing bikes for all brands and all walks of life. Nothing irks us more than the tendency for some brands in the industry to develop proprietary parts with unique sizing and new gimmicks. After a few years it can be hard to source replacements and after a decade or so you can completely forget it. Sometimes something as simple as a worn out headset bearing of a weird size or an odd shaped aero seatpost can render an older bike completely obsolete. What a waste in so many ways. Our bikes are designed for life. We chose titanium as a material for its longevity and we carefully consider the specs on our bikes with the same philosophy. Everything on our bike is standard size and commonly available. In a decade if you need a new headset, seatpost or bottom bracket for your Serk bike it will be easy to source. Even our forks have a number of different aftermarket options available with the same configuration making them easy to come by wherever you are exploring new frontiers.

This approach to bike design is not only smart but its also responsible. We've designed a timeless bike that will last and give back for decades to come. That's how it should be.

Choose from any of the following templates to apply to your frame of choice. Frames are painted one by one and turn around time is 4 weeks from deposit.

1. CLASSIC - Choose any two RAL colour. We use enivronmentally friendly water based paints from the German Spies Hecker brand.

2. PURA - Choose any one RAL colour. We use enivronmentally friendly water based paints from the German Spies Hecker brand.

3. MOFO - Any single or two colours from our range of 20+ ceramic Cerakote paints. Cerakote paint is light and durable and only requires one coat allowing us to create more intricate paint patterns

4. MULTI-CAM - Select the highlight colour from our range of 20+ ceramic Cerakote paint. Three standard options for the secondary and tertiary base colours.
