"Hunt bike wheels claim that these are the toughest wheels in their line up, and I really did try to put that statement to the test on the rocks and wood of Whistler. All this science made sure that when I rode Top of the World and pin-balled from large rock to large rock, my wheel stayed perfectly true and there wasn’t a ding in sight." ENDURO WIDE 27.5" REVIEW
After almost three years of valiant service on local trails and EWS stages alike, with numerous awards and accolades along the way, the restless design team here at HUNT saw an opportunity to update the Enduro Wide wheelset to meet the evolving demands of today’s riders.Listening to our athletes on the EWS circuit, we developed a testing protocol to ensure the Enduro Wide can take a beating on the most unforgiving trails without flinching. Our engineers built an impact test rig specifically for the task, then using FEA (Finite Element Analysis) they optimised the material distribution ensuring the strongest rim without incurring a weight penalty. To better suit the differing needs of each wheel, a front (33mm int.) and rear (31mm int.) specific profile is utilised; designed for compliancy and grip up front, while the back is reinforced to handle high impacts. So, whether you're riding tracks with black diamonds marked at the trail head or spend the weekends chasing your next Enduro stage, the EnduroWide has your back.
RIMS I Re-designed from the ground up so your wheels are the least of your worries as you focus on the stage ahead. Offering up mixed rim widths (33/31mm internal) to handle the different tasks front and rear wheels face. Optimized for 2.35"-2.6" tyres, the EnduroWide rim provides support to the tyre during hard cornering or hucking off that step-down you've been eying off for a few months!
RIM PROFILE I Like all of our wheels, the Hunt MTB line-up is designed to be used as a tubeless system. Featuring a H-Lock rim bead with 'up-kicks' to the shoulders of the rim bed secures your tyre when seated. This prevents side-to-side movement reducing the chance of burping your tyre. It creates a great rim-well seal for first installation and easy sealing of tubeless tyres. Still haven't made the switch? All our wheels are tube compatible as well.
FRONT HUB I We have gone all out on the front hub and beefed it up over our XCWide and TrailWide wheelsets. Featuring an oversized shell to accommodate larger and extremely durable bearings and 7075-T6 series alloy axles to increase stiffness. These hubs have been selected based on their ability to perform on the most aggressive trails.
REAR HUB I The demands of modern day Enduro riding are tougher than ever before, so the EnduroWide hubs have been designed with oversized 17mm axles to increase stiffness and bearing durability. On the rear, the Hunt RapidEngage MTB hubs with a fast 5 degree engagement, means you will be able to put the power down straight out of the corners.
SPOKES I We have chosen top of the line, triple butted Pillar Spokes with increased reinforcement at the spoke head. Not only are these spokes extremely lightweight, they are also able to provide a greater degree of elasticity when put under increased stress. The Pillar Spoke Reinforcement (PSR) puts more material at the spoke head, just before the J-Bend to prevent failure in this stress area.
FREEHUB BODY I Choose between SRAM/Shimano 8/9/10/11sp, Shimano Microspline or SRAM XD to be fitted to your Enduro Wides.
Tires | Optimised for 2.35"-2.6" tires set up Tubeless, but also work very well with 2.25"-2.8". Also great with standard tires and tubes
Axles | Extra thick 17mm 7075-T6 axles for increased strength and stiffness. Reducing flex in the hub also helps to increase bearing life.
Included | Tubeless tape, valve & spokes
Weight | 2041/2105g (27.5"/29")
Rider Weight I 120kgs is the upper recommended rider weight limit for these wheels. Please include the weight of any luggage in your total rider weight when choosing the correct wheels. If a rider is over 110Kgs then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly and it is advisable to use tires at max 40psi as this will reduce the fatigue on the wheelset.
